The Miami Dolphins are getting thin at center. Starter Jake Grove left Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers because of an ankle injury early in the third quarter and was questionable to return. Then, backup Joe Berger left with an unspecified injury early in the fourth for a series before returning with about 5 minutes left in the period. The Dolphins then moved Nate Garner to center after Garner had started at left guard in place of Justin Smiley.
Ronnie Brown, the Miami Dolphins' leading rusher, will miss the rest of the National Football League season with a foot injury, the team said Wednesday. The Dolphins put Brown on injured reserve, officially ending his season. It's his second season-ending injury in three years.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn has been fined by the NFL for his chop block on Baltimore's Terrell Suggs. After throwing an interception in Monday night's 16-0 loss to the Ravens, Quinn dived at Suggs' knees while trying to bring down cornerback Chris Carr, who had picked him off. Suggs had to leave the game and could miss significant playing time.
Dick Jauron was fired by Buffalo on Tuesday with the Bills off to a 3-6 start and among the lowest scoring teams in the NFL. The team said Jauron's replacement would be announced later. Jauron's successor is expected to come from the current staff and be on an interim basis only. Candidates include assistant head coach Bobby April and defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.
Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs has been released from a hospital after being injured on the final play of Monday night's loss to Baltimore. Agent J.R. Rickerts said Cribbs was sent home early Tuesday morning after being evaluated for several hours by doctors. Rickerts said he spoke with Cribbs and that the versatile five-year veteran was in good spirits. He did not know if Cribbs had sustained a concussion.
A source tells ESPN's Michael Smith that running back Larry Johnson is traveling to Cincinnati today and is expected to sign with the Bengals. The former Kansas City Chiefs player is expected to agree to a deal worth the prorated league minimum, according to the report.
